This article reviews some of the benefits around the Customer Growth report, which includes 1) Customer Net Growth, 2) New Customers, and 3) Churned Customers.
Customer Growth is only part of the story - be sure to compare against our Revenue Growth Report.
*Note*: This report is now driven by the following metrics for your Current Customers:
- Client Status - "Active" or "Terminated"
- The first start date of the first subscription of a client record. Meaning that a client will show up on this report in the given time filter you've selected, based on the Start Date of the earliest subscription on that client's record.
- You are filtering based on the ARR view and NOT the cARR (committed Annual Recurring Revenue) view.
- If you are filtering on cARR (or cMRR), the customer count calculates based on the BOOKING term
Each of the updated reports include the following enhancements:
- Filtering Options - Client Type and Assigned To (more are planned to be added in future updates)
- Custom Date Ranges - the date selector allows you to look at the data in the timeframe that makes most sense for your business
- View data by Week, Month, Quarter and Year - date ranges will help you get the view and insights you need to understand what’s happening with your business
- Plus the ability to drill into the data based on how you view it (ie by week or month)
- New Metrics for Growth Rate and Retention Rate - understand where your customer base is growing and who you need to focus on
- Trend-line Comparisons - compare how you’re performing against previous periods
- Downloadable Charts - share exciting insights via pdf downloads with others in your company and use them in presentations
- Dynamic Interactive Charts - the ability to click on reporting metrics (ie Existing, New, Reactivated, Churn, % Change) to better engage with you data and visualize what you want
Customer Net Growth Report
The Customer Net Growth report gives an overview of your logo growth and retention, and includes all the previously mentioned enhancements at the beginning of this article.
To better understand this view, here are some helpful definitions:
- Existing - The existing number of customers is calculated by the first start date of the first subscription of a client record. Meaning that a client will show up as Existing on this report in the given time filter you've selected, based on the Start Date of the earliest subscription on that client's record in the date filter selected.
- New - The number of "Active" clients with the first subscription start date inside of the selected date range
- Reactivated - The number of previously "Terminated" clients who come back as "Active" clients with the first subscription start date inside of the selected date range
- Churn - The number of clients whose subscriptions have all been terminated AND their status was changed from "Active" to "Terminated" within the selected date range
- % Change - The percentage difference of Total Logo growth and retention from the previous period
*Remember*: You can drill into the data based on how you view (ie by week or month).
