The Timeline shows your whole project plan on a calendar. Each milestone and task is a bar, and arrows show which tasks wait on others. The Project and Template Timelines have been rebuilt from the ground up: scrolling stays smooth even on projects with 900+ tasks, and jumping to the top or bottom is near-instant. Everything works the same as before, including dragging dates, reordering and dependency lines. It's just faster.
Open the Timeline
Open a project.
Select the Timeline tab at the top of the project.
The left side lists each milestone and task with its status, assignee, start date and due date. The right side shows the same items as bars on a calendar.
Read the plan
Milestones appear as a light bar spanning their tasks, with the number of tasks and percent complete. When a milestone is collapsed, you still see its start and due dates.
Tasks appear as bars from their start date to their due date.
Arrows connect a task to the task it depends on, so you can see what has to finish first.
Adjust the schedule
Move a task: drag its bar to new dates.
Change how long a task runs: drag either end of its bar.
Reorder: drag tasks and milestones in the list on the left.
Find your way around
View switches the calendar scale (for example, Quarters).
Jump to Date scrolls the calendar to a specific day.
Collapse folds milestones so you can see the big picture.
When a bar is off screen, an arrow at the edge of the chart points to it.
Templates
The Plan tab on a template uses the same view. Instead of calendar dates, tasks are placed by working day from the start of the project.
